Virtual Three Peak Challenge
News of an amazing personal challenge from Lucas Kewell in Year 9 reached school on 18th January and we were completely impressed. Lucas decided that he would climb the national Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) but as we are in a national lockdown - the climb would be a virtual one...on his home staircase!
He calculated the total ascent and divided it by the height of his staircase - 1175 ascents and descents. Lucas started on the morning of the 16th January and finished 7 and a half hours later. 18.5km of stairs. An incredible achievement showing such determination and character.
Lucas and his family used social media to generate sponsorship and update the community on his climb - he has raised £535 for the following charities: Fegans, Jigsaw South East, Crisis, Chestnut Tree House, Parkinson’s UK and Harbour Counselling. Lucas and his family have pledged to climb all 3 landmarks together once we are allowed to travel again.
