LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT
Monday was a very exciting day for our Languages department as they took part in their first ‘video call’ with our partner school in Spain!
Students took it in turns to ask questions, listen to each other, and put their language skills into practice. We also sang the Spanish Christmas carol la Marimorena! We hope to do more calls in the future and hope to build some friendships through letter writing too. Well done to all who took part today. Bien hecho y Feliz Navidad
ECO CLUB
The Eco Club celebrated the end of term with a Tree Dressing ceremony to give thanks to all the trees in the school playground, and a couple of party games, including Make the Best Animal Out of Silver Foil! The Tree Dressing ceremony where you tie ribbon around a particular tree is an ancient Celtic tradition, which is also celebrated in Hindu and Buddhist cultures. It usually takes place at the beginning of December and all the traditions hang items from the tree as a way of honouring its place in the natural world and giving thanks for the shade and oxygen it provides. Imberhorne Eco Clubbers also created some of the best animals out of silver foil – can you guess the animal? They ended their party with a Mummy-wrapping game (sustainable bamboo loo paper naturally)
CLIMBING SUCCESS
Georgie Sloan had a successful National Climbing Championships, she came 6th place overall, which has resulted in her being selected for the GB regional team.
What a fantastic achievement!
