Drama Club Presents
On the evening of 14th February, KS3 Drama Club put on a show for parents and friends. The students were excited to have the chance to perform to a real audience. The show began with energised ensemble work using choreographed movement and unison voices. They continued their impressive display of teamwork skills by performing whole group improvisation games such as ‘Stop-Freeze’ and ‘Building a Shed’.
The highlights of the evening were the individual drama pieces created by the students in small groups, based on their own ideas. One group set their drama in Hogwarts where a dangerous new teacher, Professor Ssssnake, outlines her exceptionally high expectations of learning and demonstrates her drastic discipline. Another group examined the teen-trauma of a broken nail and invented a highly trained emergency service to deal with such tragic events. The third group imagined a mutiny aboard a pirate ship where song, dance and ukulele-playing had been banned by the unpopular captain. The final piece was about a disastrous interview for a prestigious job. Each of these original pieces of drama was comical and inventive.
Drama Club students were also responsible for operating the lighting and sound, as well as designing tickets and writing their thoughts in the programme. The audience seemed to enjoy every bit of the show and many parents commented on the fantastic confidence of the students. Congratulations Drama Club on a creative and fun-filled event. Drama Club will next be performing at ‘Summer Stage’ in June 2017
