U13 netball tournament report
Having won their area league, Imberhorne qualified for the Sussex School Netball Finals which were held at The G4S Netball Centre on Tuesday 20th May. Imberhorne started brightly, winning their first game against Helenswood of Hastings, 15-2. They then had a difficult game against a quick Uplands team (representing Wadhurst), but managed 8-4 winners with amazing defending from A. Bliss and S. Everest. Imberhorne’s next game was against local rivals Hazelwick – Imberhorne achieved a 10-0 victory. The next match was against Dorothy Stringer High School from Brighton. Again with some excellent team play and good shooting from S. Starks, A. Packham and K. Scotcher, Imberhorne won 9-1. Still on a winning streak, Imberhorne continued into the next game against Bishop Luffa from Worthing. The girls were determined to make sure they went into a final game showdown against Angmering, so they worked hard and played some fantastic gameplay with excellent indivdual performances from M. Corby and L. Townsend, Imberhorne won 17-4. This meant the team went into the final game of the tournament needing a win, although a draw would have been enough to clinch the title (they had a superior goal difference, having scored 59 and only conceding 11). The girls were determined to finish the day undefeated. They struggled in the first couple of minutes with the score 3-0 to Angmering. The girls bounced back brilliantly, with courage and conviction from H. Scotcher and L. Wraight, Imberhorne were in the lead by half time with a score of 4-3. A rousing half time team talk from Miss Wood encouraged the team to continue to battle hard, resulting in an 8-4 win. The girls had a great day and would especially like to thank the vibrant supporters who stayed all day and cheered the team to victory!!!The team: S. Everest, M. Corby, A. Packham, L. Townsend, H. Scotcher, S. Starks, A. Bliss, L. Wraight and K. Scotcher
