Question Time
On Wednesday 11th March Year 11 Gifted and Talented students were privileged to take part in a Question and Answer session with a panel of experts. The students had been asked to prepare searching questions on any subject of their choice. The questions ranged from “Should Sir Fred Goodwin return his pension?” to “How should we tackle rising teenage pregnancy in Britain?”. The responses were as diverse as the questions and put the panelists on the spot. The panelists were Mr Tony Probert, a Principal Geophysicist with WesternGeco, Mr Bob Darvill, Building Schools for the Future, Mr Jon Ford, Headteacher at Imberhorne, Mrs Alison Cornell, Parliamentary Assistant to Laura Moffett MP and Dr Marc Loyez, Management Consultant of EC Harris.Although not all questions were answered (we ran out of time), the ones which were put forward were discussed with some heated but lively and interesting debate. The students found there were many opportunities to agree and disagree but always with a view to appreciate someone else’s point of view.Personally I found the Question Time was a great occasion as it allowed us not only to look at a topic from just one perspective but from many different aspects. I would like to thank, on behalf of the group, the panel for giving up their afternoon as well as Mr Walsh and Mrs Jones for organising the event.Thank you .R. SkellettYear 11 student
