German Exchange visit
Our German partners visited us last week – a group of 38 students aged 13-14 and four students who did a work experience placement in East Grinstead nurseries. The weather was particularly kind to them this year and we found them to be a very nice group of young people who impressed us with their command of English. Many of them are in the same bilingual teaching group which specialises in learning English.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> On the Saturday we went to Heaven Farm and from there we went on a shopping expedition to Crawley, finishing up with a bowling session at Hollywood Bowl. The group visited London, Brighton and Portsmouth, also finding time for a visit to East Grinstead Fire Station and the Meridian Line at East Court; collecting certificates from the town Mayor to confirm they had stood on the famous Line. On Monday they met and worked with our students from our Year 7 and Year 8 and many friendships were made. Later, on the Thursday, they met up again for a farewell party where a good time was had by all on the dance floor. Many thanks to George Elliot and Matt Didin who did a great job with the music. Thanks to Mrs Hollamby for playing hosting and Mrs J Lee for feeding them twice, to staff who helped on the day in school, and as ever, to Mrs Martin who hosted four visitors! We are now hoping we can get a party of Imberhorne students to return the visit - so watch this space, and if you would like to go, let me know (Mr R. Keyte): rkeyte [at] imberhorne [dot] co [dot] uk
